Alisia Bergsman Declares Candidacy for Huntersville Commissioner

“Committed to our Community”

HUNTERSVILLE, NC Alisia Bergsman officially filed her candidacy today for the Huntersville Commissioner race in the November election.

Alisia is currently Vice-Chair of the Huntersville Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, an appointed member to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School’s Community Equity Committee, and an active volunteer with many area non-profit organizations including the Ada Jenkins Center, Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency, and Cats of Davidson.

A Huntersville resident since 2011, Alisia prioritizes five issues she refers to as her “Why in Five”:

  • Growth Management: Address rapid population growth and its impact on town infrastructure by making smart land use decisions and utilizing a collaborative problem-solving approach.

  • Housing Affordability: Huntersville trails other municipalities in developing affordable workforce housing. We need to do more to help our first responders and essential workers find a place to call home in the community they serve, as well as make it easier for our elders to age in place.

  • Equity for All: Alisia is committed to using an equity lens in building an inclusive community that values the voices of its residents and is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and lived experiences.

  • Environmental Stewardship: We need to prioritize smart development that sustains our natural environment and healthy tree canopy, increases pedestrian connectivity, and focuses on preserving green spaces and habitats.

  • Transparency and Accountability: As Commissioner, Alisia will encourage public participation in local government by holding regular coffee chats with constituents, supporting citizen advisory boards, and backing initiatives that work to engage young adults and young professionals.

“I appreciate the small-town charm that makes Huntersville a unique and beautiful place to live. It’s important to honor the Town’s roots while making decisions that will promote continued economic growth, enhance the quality of life, and create a welcoming environment for all.”

Alisia Bergsman is committed to serving the community and looks forward to engaging with residents and local business owners to listen to their thoughts on what would make Huntersville a more exciting place to live, work and play. Learn more about her campaign at electalisia.com
